Behind the Scenes: Building the Next Chapter of Tech4Change

Insight from our monthly board meeting

Laura Dashney summary of Tech4Change Board Meeting

Laura Dashney, Co-Founder Tech4Change

One of the things people do not always see about Tech4Change is the amount of work that happens between the events, the fundraisers, the announcements, and the community moments.

At our most recent board meeting, the focus was simple: how do we keep growing the impact of Tech4Change while building the structure needed to support that growth?

A major part of the conversation centered around planning for our next signature event experience. After the success and positive feedback from our most recent gathering, the board is already working on how to make the next one even stronger. That means starting earlier, creating clearer opportunities for sponsors, improving the guest experience, and making sure the event continues to reflect what makes Tech4Change different: community, purpose, generosity, and real connection.

We also spent time discussing how we select and support charitable partners. This is not a process we take lightly. The organizations we support should align with our mission, reflect the needs of the communities we care about, and create opportunities for meaningful impact. As Tech4Change grows, we want the broader community to have more visibility into how those decisions are made and how people can help us identify organizations doing important work.

Another important theme from the meeting was content and communication. With the launch of the new Tech4Change website, we now have a stronger platform to tell our story, highlight our partners, recognize our volunteers, and create more consistent communication with the community. The goal is not just to post more often. The goal is to make sure people understand the work, the mission, the impact, and the many ways they can be part of it.

That includes sharing more stories from our board members, committee leaders, sponsors, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and community supporters. Every event, every donation, every introduction, every committee meeting, and every act of service contributes to the larger mission. Those stories deserve to be told.

We also talked about the importance of building stronger committees. Tech4Change is powered by volunteers, and the board recognizes that the next stage of growth cannot rest on a small group of people carrying everything alone. There are talented people across our community who want to serve, contribute, and lend their skills. Our job is to create clearer pathways for them to get involved.

That may mean helping with events. It may mean joining a committee. It may mean supporting marketing, charity selection, fundraising, sponsorships, community outreach, or operations. However someone chooses to contribute, the message is the same: there is room for you in this work.

What stood out most from the meeting was the spirit of collaboration. There were updates, action items, deadlines, and planning discussions, but underneath all of that was something more important: a shared commitment to make Tech4Change more sustainable, more visible, and more impactful.

The work is growing.

The community is growing.

And we are building the structure to grow with it.

If you have supported Tech4Change in the past, thank you. If you are new to the organization, we invite you to learn more, get involved, and help us continue creating opportunities and impact through the power of this community.
